Plastuny: the name of those scouts derives from the word meaning to lie flat on the ground. These small groups of scouts operated within enemy territory gathering information and taking prisoners. During night operations they blackened their faces and hands with wood-tar. They were armed with a mix of various weapons. In order to retain mobility they kept their equipment to minimum. They had sabers and long rifled firearms. Those moloitsy usually avoided combat and restricted themselves to reconnaissance operations, disorganizing the enemy and attempts to shoot enemy commanders.
