The Boyar Sons are a Muscovite cavalry formation made up of nobility called “opolcheniye” (a type of yeomanry). It included the poorer nobility who arrived to serve in person. In return for their service they were awarded with land endowments or payment. The bravest and best of the Boyars were formed into reconnaissance Sotnias (hundreds). This set includes figures with various types of armour and spears that allows this formation to be used more aggressively.
