TSWBX05: Pvrbv 551 or Lvrbv 701 Platoon

The Pansarvärnsrobotbandvagn 551 (Pvrbv 551) is a tank-hunter mounting an Improved TOW anti-tank guided missile system. The Pvrbv 551 is converted from the old Infanterikanonvagn 102/103 self-propelled guns. A new superstructure has been built on the old chassis with a new engine and transmission installed. The vehicle is operated by a crew of four, a commander and driver seated at the front, while the gunner and loader are located in the middle of the hull under two large roof hatches.

When the Pvrbv 551 goes into firing position, the hatches are opened, the iTOW is raised above the vehicle roof, and the gunner and loader fire from an exposed position. In addition to the iTOW missile, the vehicle is also armed with a Ksp 58 machine-gun for self-defence.

The Luftvärnsrobotvagn 701 (Lvrbv 701) is based on the same conversion of the old Infanterikanonvagn 103 self-propelled guns as the Pansarvärnsrobotbandvagn 551 RBS 55 (TOW) ATGM carrier. The Lvrbv 701 self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle is armed with the short range RBS 70 surface-to-air missile system.
