TUBX11: M60 Patton Tank Platoon

The M60 Patton was introduced to the US Army in 1960, becoming the Army’s first  officially designated main battle tank, effectively bringing an end to the medium and heavy tank distinctions that had gone before. Though based on the M48 Patton tank, the M60 included improvements like the new M68 105mm gun, substantially more armour, and an improved power plant.

The M60A3 Patton tank was in service with US Army tank units not yet upgraded with M1 Abrams. The M60A3 had undergone a number of improvements over the M60A1 model (still in use by the US Marines) which included adding smoke dischargers, a laser-rangefinder that could be used by both commander and gunner, a ballistic computer, intergrated stabiliser, and thermal imaging night vision sights.
