TSBX14: BTR-60 Transport Platoon

The BTR-60 was developed in the 1950's a replacement for older wheeled armoured personnel carriers and was first reveled in 1961.  BTR stands for Bronetransporter (БТР, Бронетранспортер, literally "armoured transporter").

The BTR-mounted motor riflemen make up two of the three motor rifle regiments in the 94th Guards Motor Rifle Division. Though their BTR-60 armoured personnel carriers don’t have the weaponry of the BMPs, the BTR motor rifle regiments are still more than capable of offensive action. They can rely on the support of their own tank battalion of T-64 tanks, plus artillery, anti-tank, anti-aircraft and reconnaissance assets.

When attacking on foot, motor rifle companies deploy in an extended line and advance behind the tanks at a distance that ensures their safety from friendly artillery shells and enables them to support the tanks with small-arms fire. Their BTRs and tanks hit targets that block the advance of the attacking company. They move in bounds, from line to line and from cover to cover, and, as soon as the situation allows, the motor riflemen remount and advance again.
