MOS-2 Border Dragoons

Border Dragoons were a “new pattern” formation. In the 17th century it was recruited from among peasants for the defense of the borderlands. Service in the army released them from all other duties for their lords. Their main task was the defence of the southern frontier from the Tartars. These militia type forces were dragoons in nothing but name only, as in most part they did not have horses, and if they did they dismounted at the sight of the enemy. Their main armament included a firearm and a short pike. On the battlefield they were formed into pike and shot formations. They were also widely used for all kinds of engineering duties.

The set contains 36 foot border dragoons, including spears and bases.
