Team Building
We will be following the team building rules (including allowed inducements) as used in the 2026 NAFC (with one change – there are no Star Players at Speedbowl). Which, at time of writing, is still being drafted. It should be published in January 2026, which will be plenty of time to digest and draft many team choices.
When the rules are published, they will be found here NAFC
Allowed races are all the teams in GW’s core rulebook. We will adhere to any NAF recommended FAQ, or GWs should they publish one in time.
Speed Rules
This is the key difference between this and most other tournaments. You only have a limited amount of time to play your game; about half of what is “normal”.
All coaches will need a chess clock. Either a physical one or an app on your phone is fine. There are plenty of offline, free, apps. You will only need one per pitch, though.
At the start of the game, you will set your clocks to 35 minutes each. During your turns your clock will be running down. You do not need to run your clocks when setting up for each kick off and when resolving the kick off table.
At the start of your drive, start your timer. When you finish your turn, you need to hit the button to start your opponent’s timer. This will switch back and forth until the drive ends (either by the end of the half or a touchdown is scored.) The clocks can now be paused.
